Aluminum Driveline Disconnect available for vehicles that utilize extreme length aluminum driveshafts 'Quality is never an accident; it is always the result of high intentions, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution' ~ William A Foster

Your dilemma:

You have a truck, van or suv that requires a Driveshaft Disconnect in order to be towed 4-wheels-down, but unfortunately, the vehicle utilizes a factory single (1) piece 'aluminum driveshaft' that is longer than 70 inches, which causes the factory length driveshaft to be a non-candidate for a steel shaft Driveline Disconnect. We can help!

A few unpopular solutions:

  • Purchase something that is towable as-is!
  • Don't tow the truck!
  • Flat trailer the truck!
  • Un-bolt and tie-up the Driveshaft every time you tow (bad idea)!
  • Dolly the truck 'backwards' (very very bad idea)!

The ultimate solution:

Have Just For Towing supply you with a superior bolt-in replacement of your original shaft that will be coupled to the Driveline Disconnect System. Your new system will come to you in a high speed balanced state on both sides of the coupler locks along with the shifter housing and all installation hardware w/instructions. No problem with changing out components from the original aluminum shaft to the new aluminum coupler shaft as it comes to you with new slip yoke and flange/s as necessary. Keep your original Driveshaft for re-installation if you decide to no longer tow the truck. You can't get better than this.

IMPORTANT:

This Aluminum Disconnect System is strictly for single (1) Piece 'Aluminum Driveshafts' that have a length that exceeds 69 inches or longer. If your factory Aluminum Driveshaft length is under 69 inches please see our steel replacement Remco Driveline Disconnect system.

The vehicle driveshaft will need to be removed, once removed do:

Illustrations are shown below:

  1. Measure to nearest 1/4" the length of your Driveshaft. Do this from "center" of front u-joint cap to "center of rear u-joint cap (example, 80-3/4").
  2. Measure to the nearest 1/8" across the rear weld yoke outside to outside at the u-joint caps (example, 4-1/8").
  3. Measure the rear u-joint cap diameters, "you must have a very accurate measurement". Your choices are 1.062/1-1/16", 1.125/1-1/8" and 1.188/1-3/16". Some rear u-joints have (2) different cap diameters (common in G.M. vehicles).
  4. Measure the front "slip yoke" from "u-joint cap "center" to "end" of slip yoke (example, 7-1/2").
  5. "Caliper Required" measure the slip yoke outside diameter of the machined surface (ground hub) that slides into the transmission (example, 1.836)
  6. "Caliper Required" measure the slip yoke "major spline" diameter as close to 180 degrees across as possible (see below illustration)
  7. Count the minor splines "carefully" and include any blanks (blind splines) in the final count as exampled below. Example: 36 actual minor splines and 2 blanks, written as 36/38. Next example: 37 actual minor splines and 1 blank) written as 37/38. Below illustration designates a 36/38 count. If there are no blanks in your slip yoke the count would be as an example 38
